Development of software to update firmware in set-top boxes, including security mechanisms (like encryption and signing of images) and OSD (on screen display) according to requirements of cooperation partners. Development of software to initialize the hardware of set-top boxes during power on, introducing two stage boot process to reduce the development time for the whole product.
Development of software to test functionality of hardware, introducing concept of dynamically testing hardware components to reduce time for assembly.
Development of software to broadcast data over satellite either as transport stream or embedded in teletext. Administration of external servers that provide firmware updates and other data to customers either over satellite or over internet. Administration of company internal servers at different national and international sites, especially configuration of software packages cvs, subversion, sendmail, exim4, samba, inn2, openvpn, AFS. Organizing national and international newsfeeds, which results in an almost on-going position in the top 1000 list of Usenet servers. Development of a backup strategy for AFS volumes which results in a 90 percent decrease of workload on backup issues for the IT group. Introduction of new technology to move the pre-programming of flash memory from external service providers to internal facilities. This not only halves the cost of this part of production but also reduces the time of the release process of new software from two weeks to two days. Development of an employee information system based on LDAP that enables new colleagues to faster learn who is working together with them.

Buildup of a θ-θ diffractometer which consists of two vacuum pumps, one X-ray generator, one X-ray detector, one heater for temperatures above 1000o C, one water cooling system, one control for a stepper motor, one control for a safety device to protect other against X-rays. Development of software to control each part of the diffractometer and automatically obtain measurement results.
